John grew up the son of a hospital administrator; Alyson the daughter of an accountant. People and details come naturally.

Having met at WSU’s School of Architecture and Construction Management. Alyson was an Honor Student, John (a fourth-generation Cougar) was actively involved throughout campus in academic, administrative and athletic ventures.

Independent work and studies abroad in London, Western Europe, Japan and Southern Chile afforded the two with working opportunities to see the world.

With strong ties to the Inland Northwest, the two declined career opportunities in Alberta, Colorado & Western Washington and chose to remain in Spokane.

After ten years experience with other area firms, John & Alyson launched Blue Room Architecture & Design, P.S. in the fall of 2006 (formerly established as Blue Room Design Studio). We are now located in the historic Legion Building in Downtown Spokane.

A service-oriented design firm, Blue Room is known for reacting quickly and efficiently. Many of our clients are commercial contractors who appreciate our personal approach and ability to provide tailored construction documentation.

Recent project activity has taken us to Yoho/Banff National Park, Floodwood State Forest, Washington D.C.’s Capitol Hill and throughout the Northwest.
